MPS to Hire the following Staffs and their Renumeration.
The Members of Parliament are renumerated by the Parliamentary Service Commission.
The Current MPs through the office of Liason office ,which is mandated to facilitate and oversee operations of constituency offices . The department provides for payment of staff salaries ,office operating expenses and rent.
The office gives out a budget for personal emoluments of about 811,000 , Further 659,000 for consumables and office operations .
They are also allocated with rent for CDF offices . In Nairobi the Mps are given 57,750, some 44,100 for constituency headquarters and 35000 for other areas.
According to the PSC the MPS are supposed to identify a suitable office space for rent in the respective constituencies.
In addition the MPs are supposed to Hire the following Staff Members;
1.One Research Officer ,whose should have a degree according to PSC. The officer is supposed to help the MP on Legislative topics that are discussed in the house.
2. Constituency Office Managers , they should earn a minimum of 100,000 in the last 12th Parliament.
3. Personal Assistants of the MPs earns a minimum of ksh 65,000 a month .
4.Office Assistants also earns 20,000.
5. A driver earns 40,000 per month.
6.Office Secretary who earns about 30,000
Other staff members who the MPs can employ on his discretion include Constituency office manager, Accounting officer and the Procurement Clerk.
In addition ,the lawmaker can employ a Deputy Constituency manager ,ward coordinator(s) and security guard.
The MPs staff are hired on five year contract . The appointment qualifications and terms of service are determined by the MPs,provided the staff complies with the regulations as approved by the Parliamentary Service Commission.
The Commission gives out a budgetary fund allocation for every Constituency offices every year . The Commission sets a ceiling expenditure per sub vote-head .
