The ministry of foreign affairs and internal trade has sent a circular to all Heads of Department and all head of mission informing the of a scholarship programme for the embassy of Switzerland in Nairobi. The Swiss embassy announced the availability of the programme though they are so limited number of scholarships for the foreign students for the academic year 2022/2023.
The scholarship programme will be offered to Kenyan students for research fellowships, PhD or post Doctoral studies for one year(PhD for three years) at the Swiss universities with the exception of studies in the Fine Arts.
The age limit is 35 years for all courses except for post Doctoral studies.
Other requirements and documents that are needed include ;
1. Signed medical certificate (use only the FCS health certificate form)
2.Signed FCS application form (typed and printed with photos.
3.A copy of the letter from an academic host professor (including her /his short CV )at the choosen Swiss University confirming why she /he is willing to supervise and support the research.
4. A letter of motivation with maximum 2 pages.
5.A full CV with list of academic publication,awards etc.
6.A complete research proposal (maximum 5 pages)
7.A short CV of the academic mentor at the home institution
8. Study plan or statement of purpose
9. Photocopies of the certificate and grade sheets from previously attended university /colleges.
10.Two confidential letters of recommendation
11. Two copies of the applicant’s passport.
The scholarship will have the following coverage plan;
It’s worth to note the Swiss government scholarships are fully funded and it covers full tuition fees ,Monthly stipend payments,room ,Health insurance and other student expenses .
For the international students they will also benefit on the following ;
1. Free airfare tickets
2.Sponsored research fund .
3.Housing allowance disbursements
4.Free accommodation housing allowance .
5.Sponsorship for monthly stipend .
6.Full tuition fees waiver.
7.Paid health insurance.
