Ministry of Education unveils a budget for the Construction of classes,Local contractors Encouraged to Apply .
Ministry of Education has unveiled a 5.2 billion for the Construction of classrooms.
The Ministry has encouraged local contractors to bid for the Construction of the classroom in schools in their respective sub counties since there is availability of funds .
The Ministry of Education through the Cabinet Secretary George Magoha directed the sub county implementation committees to issue notifications as from Monday, November 22.
The project which is under the Economic Stimulus programme will see the local contractors benefit who are within the vicinity of the secondary schools to tap the local skills .
The government is set to implement The Competency Based Curriculum(CBC) infrastructure Development through the construction of the 6500 classrooms so as to ease the congestion in the already available classrooms.
The project will be managed by a multi- agency team comprising of Ministry of Education,the Ministry of Interior and Coordination and other state agencies. The area Chiefs under their area of jurisdiction will be the chief supervisors of the projects .
It’s expected that the CBC pioneers class will transit to junior secondary school in 2023 after sitting the Grade 6 national exams .
During the same year ,the present standard 7 pupils under the current system will join form one after sitting KCPE examinations.
